Helensburgh & Districts Little Athletics Club: Celebrating 40 Years of Community and Sport!

This season marks a proud milestone for the Helensburgh & Districts Little Athletics Club as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary. Since its inception in the 1985-1986 Season, the club has been a cornerstone of the Helensburgh community, fostering a love for athletics and healthy living in generations of young people. Located at the vibrant Rex Jackson Oval, the club has consistently provided a welcoming and inclusive environment for children aged 4 to 17 to explore the various disciplines of track and field.

Like many Little Athletics centres across New South Wales, Helensburgh & Districts Little Athletics Club began with the vision of dedicated parents and community members who saw the value in providing a structured yet fun sporting outlet for local children. The Little Athletics movement itself, originating in Victoria in the 1960s, quickly spread due to its emphasis on participation, personal bests, and the development of fundamental movement skills, rather than solely on elite competition. Over four decades, the Helensburgh club has upheld these core principles, focusing on individual improvement, sportsmanship, and the joy of being active.

Through the tireless efforts of countless volunteers, coaches, and committee members over the past 40 years, Helensburgh & Districts Little Athletics Club has created a thriving hub where friendships are forged, confidence is built, and athletic potential is nurtured. The club's continued success is a testament to the enduring spirit of the Helensburgh community and its commitment to providing enriching opportunities for its youth. As we celebrate this significant anniversary, we look forward to many more years of fostering a lifelong passion for athletics within the Helensburgh and surrounding districts.
